Energy Micro Newsletter Q1-2010

New products, awards and funding

During the last few months Energy Micro has announced brand new EFM32 Tiny Gecko products, received several awards and secured an investment of $13 million.

The new Tiny Gecko family was introduced early March and consists of 13 new microcontrollers for ultra low power, space and cost sensitive applications. With the same energy-efficient performance as the larger memory Gecko family, Tiny Gecko comes with smaller memory and package options.

Energy Micro received the Product of the Year Award in Germany in March, as voted for by the readers of the country’s bi-weekly Elektronik magazine. Energy Micro also received the Embedded Award for Hardware at the Embedded World 2010 Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg.

In the first external funding , Energy Micro secured an investment of $13 million from Northzone Ventures and Investinor. The investment will be used to continue the development of Energy Micro’s microcontroller product portfolio, to develop and bring to market a family of energy friendly radio products and to expand the organization and sales channels to support future high growth.

Energy Micro has announced plans for the development of a companion range of low power RF transceiver products, and you can read more on this story here.
