Avnet Memec, Energy Micro Host Seminars Featuring the Gecko Family of MCUs

September 17th, 2010 - Avnet Memec, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), has teamed up with Energy Micro to offer a series of technical seminars focusing on design techniques using Energy Micro’s low-power EFM®32 Gecko family of ARM® Cortex™-M3 microcontrollers (MCUs). The workshops are being offered in multiple locations throughout North America beginning September 29, 2010.

Attendees will explore the advantages of the Energy Micro product families through presentations and hands-on lab activities using the EFM32 Gecko Starter Kit. The IAR tools featured in the labs will also be installed on attendees’ laptops for use during and after the training. In addition, technical experts from ARM will be on-hand to present the details/value of the Cortex-M3 architecture, along with steps that can simplify design migration.

"Energy Micro has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the field on the energy-friendly EFM32 Microcontrollers," said Raman Sharma, Vice President of Sales, Americas at Energy Micro. "Now it's time to further help embedded systems engineers concerned with their system’s energy consumption. Through several technical training events, hosted by Avnet, we will demonstrate both in theory and hands-on labs how engineers can design for the future of ultra-low-power microcontroller applications."

"Our goal is to provide design engineers with access to the technical training they need to increase their time to market," said Phil Sansone, senior vice president of Avnet Memec. "These workshops teach how to take advantage of the energy friendly peripherals in the EFM32 Gecko and Tiny Gecko families in both new and existing designs."

To register for this event please visit: http://em.avnet.com/EFM32Seminars. Each attendee will receive a free EFM32 Gecko Starter Kit valued at $70; cost to attend is $50.00 and includes lunch.
