Oslo, Norway, June 16th, 2010 – Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has won the Processors and Memories category of the French electronics industry’s annual Electron d’Or awards. The Electron d’Or trophy was presented to Energy Micro’s VP Sales EMEA Ian Fletcher at a ceremony held at the Paris headquarters of FIEEC, France’s Federation of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Industries.
Now in its 12th year, the Electron d’Or awards recognises all those products the editorial team of France’s leading trade publication, Electroniques magazine, believes have made the biggest impact during the past year. The winners, in each of 11 different categories, are then selected by an independent jury of French electronics industry experts.
The jury concluded that in 2010’s Processors and Memories category, Energy Micro’s ultra low power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family, most merited the prestigious Electron d‘Or. EFM32 has been proven to consume a quarter of the energy required by existing 8, 16 and 32-bit microcontroller solutions. Runners-up in the category were Analog Devices, Marvel, NXP, Ramtron and XMOS.
