Step 1: Install Simplicity Studio
Simplicity Studio is a free software suite which you need to start developing your EFM32 application. When prompted to install the required SEGGER and CMSIS packages, make sure that you click "YES"!
Download Simplicity_Studio_Setup.exe *
*Note that all updates require internet connection

Step 2: Connect your kit to your computer
Your kit is delivered with built-in J-Link technology from SEGGER. Some kits also feature J-Trace functionality. These features reduce the need to buy additional tools and makes programming and debugging easy.
Connect your kit to your computer with the USB cable.*
*Note that your kit's USB connector may differ from the one depicted

Step 3: Run your first program
Once the kit is connected and the required software libraries are installed, click on the "Demos" button to verify that the installation was successful. This will launch the energyAware Profiler. If the connection fails, make sure you installed the USB driver and libraries in Step 1.
In Simplicity Studio, click "Demos", choose a demo and then "Start".
|
Step 4: Install your preferred IDE/Compiler
EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers are supported by all the major compiler vendors. After installation your IDE will appear inside Simplicity Studio in addition to the other tools and documents.
Choose and download your IDE/Compiler here.
